Two eras, two visions of time

Saint Peter’s Cathedral in Beauvais brings together two very different astronomical clocks. The first, attributed to Canon Musique, retains mechanical elements dating back to the early 14th century.

The second, built by Auguste-Lucien Vérité between 1865 and 1868, is a monumental work combining mechanics, astronomy, the calendar and sacred art. This page gives you direct access to a detailed presentation of each one.

Preserving this heritage

An essential restoration

The Beauvais Cathedral Association maintains and contributes to the restoration of Auguste Vérité’s astronomical clock. After nearly 150 years in operation, several mechanisms require careful, painstaking work.

Donations go directly towards preserving this mechanical masterpiece and passing it on to future generations.
